She was the widow of Thomas Mason Caroon and a daughter of Jodie and Mrs. Anna Bradshaw Cutchin of Southampton County. She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Caroon Smith of Suffolk and Mrs. Louise Caroon Askew of Franklin; one son, Thomas Mason Caroon, Jr., of Franklin; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Harvey William Cutchin of Franklin, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Cutchin Harcum of Portsmouth. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Holland Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. Len B. Allen of Black Creek Baptist Church. Burial took place in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garnet Whitley, Jr., Jack Umphlett, J.C. Joyner Jr., Vernon Beacham, Roy Duke, Robert Holland, Sam Kello and Roy Duck.
