SUFFOLK - Thomas Mason Caroon, Jr., 39, of Suffolk, died Sunday at 2:55 a.m. in Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital. A native of Southampton County he was a Navy veteran of World War II. He attended Franklin schools and worked as a plumber for several years in Franklin. He was a son of the late Thomas M. and Mrs. Mattie Cutchin Caroon of Franklin. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. W.S. Smith, of Suffolk; Mrs. Harold B. Askew, of Franklin; one half sister, Mrs. Harry C. Butler, Jr., of Franklin; and one half brother, Norman C. Caroon of Spokane, Washington. Graveside services were conducted at Poplar Spring Cemetery, by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church, Tuesday at 2 p.m. I.O. Hill and Company of Suffolk was in charge. Pallbearers were: C.C. Bracey, Johnny Bradley, Johnny Wiggins and Sammy Smith of Suffolk; Vernon Beacham, J.C. Joyner Jr., Garnet E. Whitley, Jr. and Luther L. Dunlow of Franklin.
