All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIE EDWARD CAROON Willie Edward Caroon, 29, of Franklin, son of Mrs. Mattie Cutchin Caroon and the late Thomas M. Caroon, died in the Medical College Hospital, Richmond, early Monday morning, June 23, after a short illness. He was a veteran of World War II, with two years of service in Germany. At the time of his death he had been an employee of St. Regis Paper Company for 12 years. Surviving besides his mother are one brother, Mason Caroon of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Harold B. Askew of Franklin and Mrs. W.S. Smith of Suffolk of Suffolk; four half-brothers, Herman Caroon of Franklin, Roy Caroon of Lawrenceville, William Caroon of Denbigh, and Norman Caroon of Spokane, Wash.; and one half-sister, Mrs. Harry Butler, Jr., of Franklin. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the active pallbearers being Luther Barden, H.P. Brett, Roy Duck, Floyd Fowler, Robert Holland, Fred Rabil, Garnett Whitley and Coy Willis. (#15194 {Richmond #1927}) gives Edward Willie Caroon, b. 30 Nov 1928, Va.; d. after 1˝ days at MCV, due to blunt head injury, 7-10 days before - cause "pending." His WW-II draft registration also gives b. 30 Nov 1928 {Ivor}. A typo on the application for his V.A. gravestone led to it being engraved b. 30 Nov 1926 [which conflicts w/ bro T. Mason]; it is pictures with his Find a Grave Memorial, #80732889.
