All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CHARLIE DANIEL* CRUMPLER Charlie Daniel Crumpler, 85, retired farmer of Sunbeam, Southampton County, died Saturday morning in DePaul Hospital, Norfolk, after several weeks' illness. Son of Isaac and Caroline Bradshaw Crumpler, he was a native of Southampton County. His first wife was the late Maggie Daughtrey Crumpler. He was one of the oldest members of Sycamore Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sallie Bowles Crumpler; a daughter, Mrs. Grace Crumpler Vaughan of Handsom; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Thomas Downing of Sycamore Baptist Church and the Rev. Mallary E. Binns of Sunbeam Baptist Church. Burial was in Sycamore Church Cemetery*. Pallbearers were J.W. Moody, John R. Worrell, James A. McClenny, Otto Harcum, Claude Edwards, Pat D. Cotton, Burgess Joyner and Karl Scott. Original notes gave his middle name as "Dillard."
