PETER DANIEL CRUMPLER 

   Peter Daniel Crumpler, 72, a resident of the Handsom community for the 
past 34 years, died Tuesday afternoon, May 24, after an illness of many weeks.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Aline McLaughlin Crumpler, who survives him, and 
was the son of the late Isaac and Carolina Bradshaw Crumpler of this county. 
He was a member of the Sunbeam Baptist Church.

   Besides his wife Mr. Crumpler is survived by one son, P.D. Crumpler, Jr., 
of Newsoms; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Porter of Handsom; two grandchildren; a 
sister, Mrs. Paul Riddle of Norfolk; two brothers, Charlie Crumpler of Handsom 
and Crawford Crumpler of Norfolk; and a number of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services were conducted from the residence on Thursday afternoon at 
three o’clock by Rev. R.L. Chadwick, pastor of the Newsoms Baptist Church. 
Burial was in the cemetery at Sycamore Baptist Church.

   Funeral services for Peter Daniel Crumpler, 72, who died at his home in the 
Handsom community of Tuesday, May 24, after an illness of several weeks, were 
conducted from the residence on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock by his 
pastor, Rev. R.L. Chadwick, assisted by Rev. R.H. Shapland of the Newsoms 
Methodist Church.

   Burial was in the cemetery at Sycamore Baptist Church.  The active 
pallbearers were Jack Farmer, Jack Story, Lloyd Taylor, B.F. Ellis, Jr., 
Richard Railey, Marvin Porter, Cecil Porter and Gordon Bridges.

   The deceased, who had resided in the Handsom community for the past 34 
years, was the son of the late Isaac and Caroline Bradshaw Crumpler of this 
county.  He was a member of the Sunbeam Baptist Church.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Aline McLaughlin Crumpler; one son, P.D. 
Crumpler, Jr., of Newsoms; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Porter of Handsom; two 
grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Paul Riddle of Norfolk; two brothers, Charlie 
Crumpler of Handsom and Crawford Crumpler of Norfolk; and a number of nieces 
and nephews.
