She was the widow of Charlie D. Crumpler and a daughter of Jimmie and Mrs. Mary Jones Bowles of Southampton County. Born in Southampton County, she was a member of Sunbeam Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, John N. Spivey of Portsmouth; one step-daughter, Mrs. Grace C. Vaughan of Franklin; one brother, Ashby Bowles of Portsmouth; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home Sunday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. Mallary Binns of Sunbeam Baptist church and the Rev.
