Sidney J. Crumpler

  PETERSBURG - Sidney James Crumpler Sr., 70, died Sept. 24 at Petersburg 
General Hospital. 

  Mr. Crumpler was native of Southampton and was a retired millwright.  He was 
the son of the late David Milton and [Tweedy May] Vaughn Crumpler. 

  Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Field Crumpler; five daughters, Mary 
Jane Pomeroy of Maryland, Joyce Ann Crumpler of Petersburg, Jackie Brose of 
Ohio, Judith Renshaw and Janice Bailey; three sons, John Wayne Crumpler of 
Hopewell, Jerrol Crumpler of Macon, Ga., Sidney "Jim" Crumpler Jr. of Colonial 
Heights, one brother, Lonnie R. Crumpler of Sedley and 14 grandchildren. 

  A funeral service was held Sept. 27 at Purviance Funeral Home.  Burial was 
at Crumpler Family Cemetery in Sedley.  The Rev. James M. Tongue officiated. 
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
