Brittle. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, was in charge. Mrs. Crumpler, 89, died Tuesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after a long illness. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of David M. Crumpler, and a daughter of James and Mrs. Betty Owney Vaughan. She was a member of Johnson’s Grove Christian Church. Surviving are three sons, Lonnie R. Crumpler and Bernard* S. Crumpler of Sedley, and Sidney J. Crumpler of Petersburg; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great- grandchildren. Her sons are buried there, though the list gives one as Burnley, rather than Bernard.
