CLINTON LEWIS DAVIS

   Clinton Lewis Davis, 78, died Tuesday afternoon at his home in the Berlin 
community, after an illness of seven months.  Mr. Davis was the son of the 
late Dr. Madison and Eliza Williams Davis.  He was a member of the Millfield 
Baptist Church for 40 years, where he served faithfully until his death.

   He married Miss Rayner Stephenson of this county, who survives, and one 
son, Garland Davis, of this county; also a brother, E.W. Davis of Sebrell; 
a nephew, B.W. Davis, of Richmond and two nieces, Mrs. C.E. Holladay of 
Wakefield and Mrs. R.T. Short of Richmond.

   Services were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, 
conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Geo. Kissinger, III, with burial following 
in the family cemetery.  Pallbearers were Hugh Williams, Robert Taylor, W.K. 
Whitfield, Thomas Pulley, J.B. Stephenson, Henry Felts, E.H. Stephenson and 
L.H. Boothe.
