DAVIS Edgar William [sic; Williams] Davis, age 83 years, died at his home in Sebrell Sunday afternoon after a long illness. Born and reared in Southampton County, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Dr. Madison and Mrs. Eliza Williams Davis, and was prominently connected throughout the county and State. He was a consistent member of Sebrell M.E. Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C.E. Holladay of Wakefield and Mrs. R.T. Short of Richmond, one son, B.W. Davis, also of Richmond and three grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the grave in Sebrell Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock, and were conducted by the Rev. Cecil V. Morris, pastor of Capron M.E. Church, assisted by William Edwards of Courtland. The pallbearers were A.E. Briggs, S.V. Camp, Jr., B.W. Sebrell, Jr., J.H. Gray, R.R. Reese, T.H. Birdsong, Jr., Linwood Butterworth and C.R. Wade.
