Dovell, age 90, a resident of Boykins for the past 20 years, died Wednesday, April 28, 1993, at Courtland Health Care Center. He was a native of Gordonsville and son of the late Thomas J. and Ida Akers Dovell. He was a retired employee of Aster Nut Company of Boykins. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a Baptist. He is survived by a sister, Alene D. Akers of Roanoke, and a nephew, Lawrence W. Akers of Raleigh, N.C. A graveside funeral service was held on Saturday, May 1, in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, at noon by the Rev. Kenneth Williams. The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, handled arrangements. His mother Laura Belle (HEPNER) DOVELL (1868 - 1912) is buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Gordonsville.
