Daniel K. Ivey. Burial with Masonic rites was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, was in charge. Pallbearers were G.G. Burgess, W.W. Wheeler, Roger Bryant, R.C. Barrett, J.C. Stephenson Jr. and George Scott. DeBerry, 80, died early Wednesday in a Portsmouth home after an illness of several months. A native of Northampton County, N.C., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Caroline Ellis DeBerry and a son of Junius Henry and Frances Vaughan Parker DeBerry. A retired farmer, he was a member of Boykins Methodist Church and 57 year member of Pendleton (N.C.) Masonic Lodge 524. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frances D. Tindall of Hatton; a son, Marshall M. DeBerry, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Virginia Powell Goodwin, both of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Louise D. Francis of Richmond; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Nancy DeBerry Arnold of Alexandria and Marshall Morton DeBerry Jr. of Franklin.
