Mr. Duck was born in Isle of Wight County, a son of the late Benjamin H. and Hattie Carr Duck. He was a member and deacon of South Quay Baptist Church and a retired self-employed welder and mechanic. He was a member of C.B. Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Aldine Blythe Duck; two sons, David L. Duck and wife, Deborah, of Suffolk, and Glenn A. Duck and his wife, Allison, of Franklin; two sisters, Gladys D. Pope of Carrsville, and Mary Virginia Cutchins of Courtland; four grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Duck, Laura Ann Duck, Lindsay Darden and Megan Elizabeth Duck. Mr. Duck was predeceased by a brother, Linwood Duck. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Louis Venable and the Rev. William Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439, or South Quay Baptist Church.
