All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HENRY LITTLETON DUKE Henry Littleton Duke, 77, well-known retired farmer of Newsoms, died Monday morning, July 10, at a Norfolk hospital after an illness of more than two years. Mr. Duke was the son of the late Robert and Margaret Murphy Duke of Nansemond County, and the husband of the late Mrs. Maggie Lee Duke of Newsoms. He was a member of the Newsoms Methodist Church. Surviving him are a son, Robert L. Duke of Newsoms, and a grandson, Robert L. Duke, Jr., also of Newsoms. Funeral rites for Mr. Duke were conducted from the Newsoms Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, his pastor, Rev. R.B. Moore, officiating, assisted by Rev. R.L. Chadwick. Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery. Active pallbearers were John Q. Worrell, D.B. Rountree, J.T. Story, Jr., Ralph Porter, George Prince, L.D. Story, E. Beale Carter and Bennie Bunn.
