WALTERS - A funeral service for John Irvin Duck Sr., 81, was held Friday at 2 p.m. in Mount Carmel Christian Church by the Revs. Donald Trump and T.A. Powell. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Wright Funeral Home in charge. Duck died Wednesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Mrs. Martha Carr Duck. He was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church and retired farmer. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Martha Delap of Norfolk and Mrs. Elsie O'Meara of Walters; two sons, John I. Duck Jr. of Walters, and Bobby G. Duck of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Babb of Windsor; three half sisters, Mrs. Emma Presnell of Norfolk, Mrs. Gladys Carr of Hampton, and Mrs. Junie Underwood of Franklin; a brother, Morris Randolph Duck of Colosse; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
