DAUGHTREY Mrs. Dora Gardner Daughtrey, 70, a life-long resident of the Franklin community, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Thursday night, May 16, after in illness of about four weeks. Mrs. Daughtrey was the daughter of the late Nelson B. and Emmaline Whitfield Gardner of Isle of Wight County and the wife of James Carey Daughtrey, residing on the Monroe Bridge Road near Franklin. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Besides her husband she is survived by a son of a prior marriage, Julian Harcum of Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. Fenton Cobb, Mrs. James Daughtrey, and Mrs. James Kirkland, all of Franklin; and three grandchildren, Mrs. Russell Carr of Walters and Suzie Anne Daughtrey and Nancy Carol Kirkland of Franklin. Services for Mrs. Daughtrey were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by Rev. Vivian Evans, pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church, and Rev. Joseph R. Johnson, D.D., religious director in the Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg. Interment was in the Sycamore Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were R.H. Allen, Walter M. Beale, Russell Cotton, Hunter Darden, Ryland Edwards, John L. Eley, Jr., Otto Harcum and John W. Moody. Dora (GARDNER HARCUM; Mrs. James C.)
