DAUGHTREY From her home, "Sunnyside" near Sunbeam, this county, the spirit of Mrs. Helen Myrick Daughtrey passed to its reward March 27, 1919. she was the last with one exception of a large family of as worthy people as the writer ever knew. One sister, Mrs. Mocock, of Weldon, N.C., still lives. Mrs. Daughtrey was the widow of the late Dr. William Daughtrey of blessed memory. She was of a family noted for positive virtues and sterling worth. Her beautiful and consecrated life gave abundant evidence of the presence and activities of virtues and exalted ideals of unselfish service rarely excelled. No needy cause known to her was without a helpful friend. In thinking of her one could not fail to think of Christians who are as "cities set upon hills," of Christians who are by word of life; of Christians who by Godly lives put to silence "the ignorance of foolish men;" of the holy women in the olden time whose chaste conversation was coupled with fear, whose adorning was not that of plaiting the hair and of wearing of gold but the hidden man of the heart in that which is not corruptible - the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. In every relation of life she was dependable, large-hearted, true and like her Divine Master, unselfish and compassionate. God let this good woman live eighty years and twenty-two days. She was buried at the home of her childhood Saturday afternoon, March 29, where a large company of relatives and friends gathered to show their appreciation of her life and character. The services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Elders Mssrs Raymond and L.F. Paulette. The active pallbearers were: J.T. Bryant, T.H. Barrett, V.K. Daughtrey, S.P. Winborne, L.L. Bryant, J.R.
