Daughtrey, highly-esteemed citizen of Sunbeam and wife of V.K. Daughtrey, died Sunday afternoon in Raiford Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Daughtrey was 71 years of age and was known and loved by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances as a woman of unusually fine Christian character, a devoted wife and mother, a generous and considerate neighbor. Mrs. Daughtrey was a daughter of the late John E. and Mrs. Virginia Myrick Morecock of a well-known Halifax County, North Carolina, family and besides her husband is survived by two sons, Prof. William H. Daughtrey of V.P.I., Blacksburg, and V.K. Daughtrey, Jr. of Franklin; one daughter, Miss Mary Virginia Daughtrey of Sunbeam; a brother, William M. Morecock of Halifax County, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Davis of Wilson, N.C. and Mrs. L. N. Drewry of Blacksburg, Va., and by a granddaughter. Funeral services were conducted from the family residence at Sunbeam Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by the Rev. C.F. Moseley, assisted by the Rev. C.P. Cleveland of Newsoms. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, the active pallbearers being: Wiley Edwards, J. Edward Moyler, Linwood C. Drake, R.B. Bryant, Jr., Roswell Hart, Lloyd Freeman, John Freeman and Emmett Rawls. Helen R.
