All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ VIRGINIUS KEMPER DAUGHTREY Virginius Kemper Daughtrey, 88, died at Raiford Memorial Hospital early Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 3. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Helen Morecock Daughtrey, and the son of the late Edward Riddick and Mrs. Mary Ann Freeman Daughtrey. He was native of Nansemond county, moving to the Handsom community in 1900, where he was a farmer until retirement. He was a member of the Sunbeam Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are one daughter Miss Mary Virginia Daughtrey of Handsom; two sons, William Henry Daughtrey of Blackburg and Virginius Kemper Daughtrey, Jr. of Franklin; two grandchildren, Mrs. Albert Lawrence Land, Jr., of Orlando, Fla., and William Henry Daughtrey, Jr., of Blackburg. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Son Funeral Home by the Rev. L.F. Smith, pastor of Sunbeam Baptist Church, and the Rev. C.P. Cleveland of Kenbridge, a former pastor. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Daughtrey, R.A. Daughtrey, Hunter Daughtrey and Jasper Daughtrey, Jr., Emmitt H. Rawles, Richard Williams, Jarvis Howell and Garland Benton.
