He was the husband of Mrs. Rosebud Caton Dixon and a son of Edward and Mrs. Henrietta Boyd Dixon of Pitt County, N.C . A native of Pitt County, he lived in Franklin 35 years and was a member of High Street Methodist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are two sons Elmer L. Dixon of Fresno, Calif., and Carroll Dixon of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughter, Mrs. Lawless Cobb of Franklin, Mrs. E.E. Springer of Tampa, Fla. and Mrs. G.T. Hundley, Jr., of Sedley; two brothers, John Dixon of Bethel, N.C., and Raymond Dixon of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. C.O. Speight, Mrs. Claude Jones and Mrs. John Turner of Greenville, N.C.., and Mrs. Thurman Meaks of Norfolk, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m by the Rev. Gilliam C. Bentley, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Pallbearers were W.L. Burrow, Virgil Derby?*, Otis Whitley, Ray Johnson, Edwin Stephenson, Jr. and Luther Blythe. *This obit’s paper was light and hard to read but I think I got most of it right.
