A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Reid and Ellen Bryant Dickens. She was a member of Capron United Methodist Church, a graduate of Blackstone College and Longwood College. She had taught for three years in the Southampton public school system. Surviving are one sister, Miss Helen A. Dickens of Capron; one niece, Mrs. Charles Bielaski of Annandale; one sister-in-law, Mrs. J.J. Dickens of Williamsburg and two great-nieces. A funeral will be held Thursday, 11 A.M. in Capron United Methodist Church by the Rev. Van E. Cash. Burial in Capron Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to the Capron Church Building Fund.
