CLARA GUTRIDGE DODD

   BOYKINS - A funeral service for Mrs. Clara Gutridge Dodd is scheduled for 
Thursday at 2 p.m. in Boykins Baptist Church by the Rev. Ben Ussery and the 
Rev. Edward Landruf.  Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery with McDowell 
Funeral Home in charge.

   Pallbearers will be Wilson Barnes, Victor Grizzard, W. Hugh Powell Jr., 
Roy A. Lassiter, L.P. Clary Jr., J.C. Blowe and S.W. Purviance.

   Mrs. Dodd, 76, died in her home in Hopewell after a heart attack Monday.

   A native of Narrows, she was the widow of Dr. S.H. Dodd and a daughter of 
Frank and Mrs. Mahalia Mearns Gutridge.

   She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hopewell, Southampton County 
Eastern Star Chapter, and Hopewell Women’s Club.

   She moved from Boykins to Hopewell about six years ago.

   Surviving are a son, William H. Dodd of Hopewell; a sister, Mrs. E.W. 
Brauer of Richmond; a brother, V. Gutridge of Hopewell; two grandchildren; 
and two great grandchildren.
