ROBERT MURRAY DOLES, JR. 

Buried July 2 at Tucker Swamp 

Robert M. Doles, Jr, 53, died on Friday morning, June 30, 1961 at 6 am 
in his home in Zuni.  He was the son of the late Robert Doles & Mrs. 
Anna Bell Doles.  He was born in Southampton Co.  He was a retired chief 
petty officer with twenty years active service and ten years active 
reserve of the navy.  He was awarded a Presidential Citation, 9 major 
Battle stars and was in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. 

He is survived by his widow, Doris Arnold Doles; a son Steven M. Doles; 
a daughter Linda I. Doles of Virginia Beach, a sister Elizabeth Bradshaw 
of Suffolk; a brother Edgar B. Doles of Norfolk. 

A funeral was held Sunday July 2 at 3 pm in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield.  Burial was in Tucker Swamp Baptist Cemetery.
