A lifetime resident of the area, she taught in the Franklin Southampton County school systems for over 50 years. She was educated at Webb Euphradian Institute, Randolph Macon College and Farmville Teacher College. She was a Charter members of the Franklin Music Study Club, a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy. Among the survivors are, Mrs. W.R. Atkinson, Jr., William W. Dillon, Jr., Miss Martha L. Savage, Mrs. Henry P. Deyerle, and S.B. Savage, Jr. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery. W.J.M. Holland and Son Funeral Home in charge.
