All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FRANCES ELIZABETH FALKNER DILLON Mrs. Frances Falkner Dillon, died here May 17, 1945, after an illness of several months. She was the daughter of the late Moses J. Falkner and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Falkner of Cullman, Alabama. Her parents moved to Corinth, Miss., when she was quite young and she came to Franklin from Corinth about 31 years ago, marrying William Woodfin Dillon of this town July 30, 1921. Mr. Dillon was a gallant soldier in World War I, dying in December 1930, and they are survived by two children, Miss Elizabeth Ann Dillon of Franklin, and William W. Dillon, Jr., U.S. Army Air Corps, now stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. W.O. Chandler of West Point, Miss., and Miss Modina Falkner of Corinth, Miss., and by two brothers, Robert Falkner of Corinth, Miss., and John L. Falkner of California. Mrs. Dillon was a gracious woman of many admirable traits numbering an unusually large circle of friends. She had been associated with Jones-Hayes Company for many years and until her illness about a year and half ago. Services were conducted from her home in South High Street Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by her pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson, in the presence of a large assemblage. Mrs. H.M. Purviance sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "There Is No Night," Mrs. S.B. Cutchins accompanying her. The pallbearers were : J.L. Rountree, C.H. Dougherty, J.S. Morgan of Suffolk, Dr. Kurt Hirsch, W.R. Atkinson, F.R. Day, Ellsworth Jones and G.E. Pillow. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Burial was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
