Duncan of Norfolk and daughter of the late John S. and Mrs. Sallie Porter Bryant of Southampton County, died in a Norfolk hospital at 2:45 o’clock Thursday morning, July 10. A native of Newsoms and a resident of Norfolk for the past eight years, she resided at East Ocean View and was a member of the Norview Methodist Church. Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Isaac M. Duncan, Jr., of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Lewis G. Smith of Norfolk, Mrs. O.R. Harrell of Suffolk, and Mrs. J.V. Beale of Branchville; five brothers, W.R. Bryant of Portsmouth, J.S. Bryant, Jr., L.F. Bryant and R.D. Bryant, all of Newsoms, and J.T. Bryant, reported to be a prisoner of war in Korea; her stepfather, A.P. Porter, of Newsoms, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. W.E. Sumner of New York City. Funeral services for Mrs. Duncan were conducted on Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Ewell and Williamson Funeral Home, Norfolk, by Rev. George Wesley Jones, pastor of the Norview Methodist Church. Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery. Revs. R.B. Moore and M.W. Anderson conducting the services at the grave. The pallbearers were J.V. Beale, C.R. Duncan, C.L. Edwards, J.W. Franks, O.R. Harrell and L.G. Smith. Ruby Lee (BRYANT; Mrs. Isaac M.)
