She was the widow of John C. Drake and a daughter of Wesley and Mrs. Martha Jane Vick of Southampton County. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving are seven sons, John Wesley Drake, Claude Drake, Linwood Drake, Spurgeon Drake, Genie Drake and Dock Drake of Newsoms and Tommy Drake of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Hay Vick and Mrs. Mattie Lassiter of Newsoms; two brothers, Eddie Vick of Newsoms and Gay Vick of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held in Newsoms Baptist Church Sunday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. Mallory Binn, pastor, and the Rev. L.F. Smith of Moyock, former pastor. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. The body was taken from Holland Funeral Home to the church at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers were Randolph Drake, Claude Drake, Jr., Ray Drake, Linwood Drake, Jr., George Thomas Drake, George Drake, Elmo Drake and Joe Drake, all grandsons of the deceased.
