He was the son of the late George and Martha Drake of this county, and was a member of Barnes Methodist Church, in which he served for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Gray Drake of Newsoms; three sons, George C. Drake of Portsmouth, Emmett Edward Drake of Franklin, and Ray Elvin Drake of Newsoms; one daughter, Mrs. Irene E. Drake of Newsoms; nine grandchildren; one brother, Jim L. Drake of Newsoms; and two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Vick of Franklin and Mrs. Mattie M. Whitley of Portsmouth. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at three o’clock at the grave in Newsoms Cemetery, the pastor of the deceased, Rev. John W. Morrison, officiating.
