JAMES LEE DRAKE

   James Lee Drake, 73, a farmer of the Newsoms community, died in Raiford 
Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning, December 12, after an illness of 
several months. 

   Mr. Drake was the son of the late George and Martha Johnson Drake of this 
county. He was a member of Barnes Methodist Church. 

   Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ronie Lee Drake of Newsoms, two sons, Sylvester 
J. Drake of Newsoms and Robert F. Drake of Lynchburg; a daughter, Mrs. L.J. 
Sanford of Franklin; and two sisters, Mrs. Villa Vick of Franklin and Mrs. 
Mattie Whitley of Portsmouth. 

   Funeral services for Mr. Drake were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. 
Holland & Sons on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. O.L. Gochenour, 
pastor of Barnes Methodist Church. Interment was in the Newsoms Cemetery. 

   Pallbearers were H.A. Barrett, E. Beale Carter, Russell Drake, Quinton 
Ferguson, Joe Parker, and John Q. Worrell.
