He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella R. Drake, three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Whitley and Miss Virginia Drake of Como, and Mrs. Tony Hedgepeth of Murfreesboro, N.C., two sons, Claude W. Drake of Como and Stanley T. Drake of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Briscoe of Oteen, N.C., Mrs. L.R. Butts of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Walter Slade of Ridgecrest, N.C., and a brother, Frank Spurgeon Drake, of Suffolk. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Dempsey Robinson the active pallbearers being T.H. Barrett, W.H. Modlin, Julian Worrell, E.T. Stephenson, Benjamin Cullen, Wallace Sumner, Jake Howell and C.T. Whitley. John Thomas DRAKE, retired farmer, VA native, d. 17 Nov 1935, at home, near Como, Hertford Co., NC, age 65, interred 18 Nov 1935, near Como, NC, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Nov. 22, 1935 Additional information from N.C. Death Certificate, #188. He was the son of John C. & Roberta (COBB) DRAKE. His widow's N.C. Death Certificate, #34859, states she was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Hertford Co., NC.
