All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSEPH CHARLES DRAKE Joseph Charles Drake, 68 years of age, died at his home Saturday, February 5th, following an illness of only a few hours, a well known and successful farmer of Capron, where he was born, reared and spent his entire life. He was the son of the late James E. Drake and Mrs. Patty Joyner Drake, and is survived by two sisters, Mrs. S.T. Whitehorn of Richmond and Mrs. S.W. Joyner of Capron; one brother, J.T. Drake of Capron and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Drake was a member of the Capron Methodist church, the Masonic Lodge and a director of the Bank of Capron. The body was taken to the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins where if remained until Sunday afternoon when it was taken to the Capron cemetery for funeral and burial, the service being conducted at 3 o’clock by his pastor, Rev. L.D. Stables, assisted by Rev. R.H. Marks. Burial was made with Masonic rites. There were many beautiful flowers and a large gathering of friends. Active bearers were: L.W. McGrath, D.H. Bell, R.A. Pearce, L.R. Magee, H.L. Bain, C.B. Pope, E.M. Trice of Drewryville and R.B. Barber of Richmond. Joseph Charles DRAKE, farmer, b.
