JOHN CARROLL DRAKE

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for John Carroll Drake, 78, was held Friday at 
11 a.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by Dr. Robert B. Marr.  Burial was in 
Mount Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery, Southampton County.

   A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Carrie 
Ralph Drake.

   He was a retired route carrier for the Virginian Pilot and The Ledger Star 
newspapers.  He was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.

   Survivors include two sons, Frank Ralph Drake and Jean Charles Drake; and 
sister, Mrs. Josie Boone of Portsmouth; a brother, Elliott Drake of San 
Fernando Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
