All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JAMES THOMAS DRAKE AND NANCY SUE DRAKE BAILEY BROTHER AND SISTER DIE ONE DAY APART James Thomas Drake, aged 60, well-known farmer of the Newsoms community, died Sunday morning, March 23, at Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was the son of the late Thomas and Caroline Burgess Drake of this county. He was a member of Barnes Methodist Church in which he played an active part for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Whitley Drake of Newsoms; two daughters, Mrs. Tommie Vinson and Miss Madge Drake of Franklin; a step- daughter, Miss Emma Lee Whitley of Como, N.C.; two sons, Andrew Drake and Harry Drake, both of Franklin; two grandchildren, Wilson and Barbara Vinson of Franklin; four sisters, Mrs. Joe Bryant of Lasker, N.C., Mrs. Clifton Bailey of Franklin, and Miss Carrie Drake and Mrs. Ella Bradshaw of Newsoms; and one brother, Rufus Drake of Newsoms. Funeral services were held at Barnes Methodist Church on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. John W. Morrison. Interment was in the Newsoms cemetery. Active pallbearers were J.V. Simmons, R.F. Boyette, V.D. Thorpe, Hugh Barrett, L.E. Spruill, Marshall Vick, Fred Edwards, A.J. Bryant and L.L. Thorpe.
