Drake, a well-known farmer of the Sunbeam community, died May 17th, 1927, after a brief illness. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Josephine A. Drake; five sons, R.T. Drake of Vicksville,, V.L. Drake of Courtland, E.W. Drake of Newsoms, J.C. Drake of Corapeake, N.C. and E.B. Drake; four daughters, Mrs. L.V. Maddrey of Pendleton, N.C., Mrs. J.L. Porter, Mrs. S.E. Whitfield and Miss Josie Drake of the home community; a brother, E.F. Drake of Sunbeam, and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Barnes of Norfolk. Funeral services were conducted from Mt. Horeb M.E. Church by the Pastor, Rev. L.C. Moore, assisted by Rev. Luther Derby of Richmond, and interment was made in the churchyard cemetery.
