All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LILA NEBLETT DRAKE FRANKLIN - Funeral services for Lila Neblett Drake, 87, were held Sunday in Wright Funeral Home by the Revs. Kenneth Williams and Harry W. Bunch. Burial was in Poplar Spring cemetery. Pallbearers were: Benjamin J. Bryant, Marvin Worrell Jr., James Dunlow, Foushee Railey, C.M. Floyd, Jr. and Walter Bishop Sr. Drake died Friday in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, N.C. She was a native of Greensville County and the widow of Lynwood Crumpler Draker. She was a graduate of Blackstone Female Institute and taught in Southampton county schools for 12 years. She was also an accomplished musician and was church organist for Sunbeam Baptist Church, of which she was a member. She also taught at Sunday School and was president of the Women’s Missionary society for 33 years. Survivors include two sons, Walter Franklin Drake of Franklin, and Lynwood Crumpler Drake, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren.
