Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. He died in McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond. He was a native of Southampton County and husband of the late Mrs. Lorena Bryant Drake. He was a retired Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired sheet-metal worker and a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. Survivors include: Mrs. Patricia Johnson of Suffolk; a son, Raymond E. Drake of Newsoms; a brother, Emmett E. Drake of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Irene D. Bryant of Boykins; and five grandchildren.
