Mr. Drake, a native and life-long resident of Southampton County, was a member of Sedley Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Iva Holland Drake; two daughters, Dorothy D. Burgess and Shara D. Kitchen, both of Sedley; a son, Theodore R. "Ted" Drake Jr. of Suffolk; a stepson, Wilbur Turner of Chesapeake; two sisters, Louise D. Sodan of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Violet D. Major of Newport News; a brother, James C. Drake of Sedley; eight grandchildren; 12 step- grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. The funeral was conducted Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Revs. David Johnson, R.E. Brittle and Kenneth Williams. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Memorial donations may be made to Sedley Baptist Church.
