He was 52 years of age and the son of the late George and Mrs. Martha Drake of the Newsoms community. He was a faithful and consistent member of Barnes Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Drake, and the following children; Mrs. Luther Worrell of Boykins, Virginia, Cosy, Willa, Lonnie, Lucy and Willie Drake, Jr., one grandchild and the following brother and sisters; Ezra, Dick and Jim Drake, Mrs. Mattie Whitley and Mrs. C.L. Vick, all of Newsoms, and P.H. Drake of Franklin. The funeral serviced conducted at Barnes Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by his Pastor, Rev. R.H. Marks of Newsoms, and Rev. Frank B. Handley of Boykins Baptist Church. A large number of friends gathered to pay their last tribute to their friend and there were several beautiful floral tributes. Hymns sung were: "The Haven of Rest," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," and "Abide with Me." The pallbearers were: C.C. Thorp, G.R. Fowler, J.C. Bunn, R.A. Vick, R.P. Revelle and W.P. Pope. Interment was made in the old family burying ground.
