All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Miss Claressa Darden Dies In Franklin Home Miss Claressa Darden, daughter of late Elisha and Nancy Darden, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Eva Hines, 606 Main street, Franklin, on Friday night at 11:55 o'clock. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eva Hines and Mrs. R.B. Eure, both of Franklin, and one brother, W.B. Darden, of Suffolk, also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. F.C. Lester, of Waverly, assisted by the Rev. J.W. Fix, of Franklin, and Dr. N.J. [sic; N.G.] Newman, of Holland. Interment will be in Poplar Springs cemetery, Franklin. The active pallbearers will be E.O. Forbes, E.P. Forbes. A.L. Forbes, G.P. Darden, W.A. Daughtrey, Watkins Darden, Lloyd Darden and Romie Darden. Friends of the family will act as honorary pallbearers. ****************************************************************************** DEATH OF MISS CLARISSA DARDEN Miss Clarissa Ann Darden of Franklin died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Eva Hines, here Friday night, November 8. She was in the 69th year of her life, the daughter of the late Elisha and Mrs. Nancy Darden, and was more familiarly known to her friends as "Miss Annie." Surviving her are two sisters, Mrs. Eva Hines and Mrs. R.B. Eure of this town, and one brother, W.B. Darden of Suffolk, besides several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Hines residence Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F.C. Lester of Waverly, assisted by Rev. J.W. Fix of Franklin and Dr. N.G. Newman of Holland, interment taking place in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The body bearers were her nephews: Owen Forbes, Lee Forbes and W.A. Daughtrey of Franklin, Edward Paul Forbes of Norfolk, Gilbert Darden of Suffolk and Watkins Darden, Lloyd Darden and Romie Darden of Emporia. A number of friends of the family acted as honorary bearers. There were numerous and beautiful floral tokens.
