Darden died at her home in Courtland on Tuesday evening, February 17th, after a brief attack of influenza, in the thirty-first year of her life. Her death is peculiarly sad in that she was taken away just in the prime of life’s usefulness and she leaves to grieve her loss her husband, Mr. W.E. Darden; three children, Walter, Spratley and Frances, and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Fannie Darden. At the time of her death every member of the family was sick with influenza. The deceased is also survived by three brothers, W.J. Walls, E.T. Walls and J.S. Walls, all of Suffolk. She was a good and kind-hearted mother, wife and neighbor and the bereaved loved ones have the deepest sympathy of their many friends in their hour of sorrow. The interment took place at the Courtland cemetery at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a large concourse of friends, the burial services being conducted by Rev. J.E. Brooks of the Courtland M.E. Church. The pallbearers were Messrs. W.J. Davis, Herbert Yates, J.E. Whitfield, H.A. Gillette, James T. Gillette and E. Whitfield.
