Darden of Como, N.C. a former resident of and native of Southampton County, died suddenly at Como, N.C., Monday morning, May 9. He was the son of the late Captain Rufus Darden of Newsoms and a brother of Jno. B. Darden and Mrs. J.H. Channing of Newsoms, having many warm friends in this section who will regret to know of his death. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Tina Picot, daughter of Mrs. Antoinette Picot and the late Captain Julian H. Picot of Como, two daughters and one son, and was a brother of Mrs. C.G. Pico of Como. The funeral services were conducted from his late residence in Como Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner, pastor of Buckhorn Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. J.P. Essex of Newsoms and Dr. W.V. Savage of Churchland, interment following in the churchyard burying ground. The pallbearers were G.C., L.J., T.B., H.E. and H.B. Picot, John B. Darden, Jr., William Darden and J.H. Channing of Newsoms. [Edward T.
