Darden of New York, died suddenly Tuesday night at her home there. Mrs. Darden was the daughter of the late D.J.* and Rebecca Moore Watkins of Franklin and a sister of the late Major R.E.L. Watkins, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Southampton County for a number of years. Surviving her are a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Watkins Darden, and a son, Lawrence E. Darden, Jr. both of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Robert E. Darden of Franklin and Mrs. James DeWitt Kase of Raleigh, and a brother, George Watkins, of Franklin, besides several nieces and nephews. Services were conducted this (Friday) morning at 11 o’clock at Emmanuel Episcopal Church here by the Rev. J. Sutherland-Watt of Norfolk and the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin, interment being in Poplar Spring Cemetery here. Pallbearers were S.W. Rawls, John C. Parker, Jr., C.C. Vaughan, III, R.I. Beale, P.R. Camp, J. Edgar Weede and Colgate W.
