A native of Southampton County, he lived 50 years with Mrs. Jack Wiggins near here. He was a retired automobile salesman and member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He was an Army lieutenant in World War I. He was a son of Thomas A. and Mrs. Laura V. Cross Darden. Surviving are two brothers, Hunter Darden and Theon Darden of Franklin; and a sister, Mrs. Vernard Cotton of Franklin. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Sycamore Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas F. Mabe. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home to the church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
