Darden, 96, died Sunday. He was an active merchant and a former mortician of the Branchville community and a member of the Branchville Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, John T. Darden of Branchville; a foster daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Simms of Capron; a sister, Mrs. Ann D. Coggin; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Branchville Baptist Church with burial in Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin. Remains rest at the McDowell Funeral Home in Boykins. ****************************************************************************** JOHN WILSON H. DARDEN BRANCHVILLE - A funeral service for John W. H. Darden, 96, was held Tuesday, March 5, in Branchville Baptist Church with the Rev. Chreston Hollomon officiating and assisted by Rev. Thomas Caulkins and Rev. Edmund Ellis. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with McDowell Funeral Home of Boykins in charge. Pallbearers were: Linton Grizzard, Lewis Jordan, Horace Edwards, J.Q. Bolton, Clay Beasley and B.C. Edwards. Darden, a mercantile merchant and funeral director and embalmer for the 67 years died Sunday morning in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Nansemond County he was a son of John Wilson and Mrs. Margaret Edney Darden and the husband of the late Mrs. Annie Tyler Darden. He was the oldest member and active deacon of the Branchville Baptist Church and operated Darden and Son store. Surviving are a son, John T. Darden of Branchville; a daughter Mrs. Mary Ellen Simms of Capron; one sister, Mrs. Ann D. Coggins of Jacksonville, Fla., eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. John Wilson H.
