Born in Oconee County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Anderson Henry and Annie Jones Clark and the widow of Elmer J. Darden. She was retired from Hancock Peanut Co. Survivors include seven daughters, Annie Johnson, Bobbie Jean Turner, Shirley Echols and her husband, Alan, Martha Ellen Weirich and her husband, Dwight, Virgia Lee Cooper, Kathy Darden and Judy Rose; three sons, William Turner, Willie Lee Turner, Ross Allen Turner and his wife, Debbie; three sisters, Lydia Howard, Mattie Roach and Bernice Beale; four brothers, Henry, Clarence, Willie and Carl Clark; 17 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Wright Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, VA 23851 or to Sentara Hospice, 3508 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
