THEON AMBROSE DARDEN

   Theon Ambrose Darden, 95, a longtime resident of the Forks of the River 
community of Southampton County, Va., died Dec. 23, 2000, at Tanden Health 
Care Williamsburg.

   Mr. Darden was a native of Southampton County and was a son of the late 
Thomas Ambrose and Laura Virginia Cross Darden.  Mr. Darden was retired from 
the maintenance department of Union Camp Corporation after 37 years of service 
and was a longtime member of Sycamore Baptist Church.  He has also been a 
member of the Forks of the River Ruritan Hunt Club.

   Survivors include two daughters, Shirley D. Bunch and her husband Leon, of 
Suffolk; and Betty D. Pugh and her husband James of Front Royal; and one son 
Theon A. "Tad" Darden,  Jr. and his wife Emily, of West Point, Va.; 12 
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

   A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sycamore Baptist Church with the 
Rev. Dr. Reginal Warren officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. 
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the 
funeral and suggest that memorials be made to the Sycamore Baptist Church, 
31120 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, VA 23851.  Wright Funeral Home is in 
charge of arrangements.
