Darden, chief of police in Franklin for a number of years, died at the home of his son, Spratley Darden, in Norfolk September 27, burial taking place in Courtland at the graveside of Riverside Cemetery September 30, at 4 o’clock with services conducted by Rev. Percy D. White of the Courtland Methodist Church, of which Mr. Darden was a member. The pallbearers were: Roland, Emmett and Thomas Vaughan, Stuart Sowell, Robert Duncan, Claude Applewhite, Henry Comstock and W.T. Acree. Walter Edward DARDEN, former Franklin Chief of Police, d. 27 Sep 1945, at son's home, Norfolk, interred in Riverside Cemetery (Episcopal Section, Plot 27; unmarked*), Courtland, 30 Sep 1945, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Oct. 19, 1945 *All in plot are unmarked.
