Carl C. Dollar of Holland Christian Church, and the Rev. St. Elmo Nauman of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. The family will be at the home of Mrs. J.A. Nicholas of 408 N. High Street, Franklin. W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home has charge. Pallbearers will be R. Wilkerson Holland, G.W. Hanna, Dr. T.W. Culp, Sumner Rawls, Clyde G. Johnson, Dr. L.L. Miller, F.F. Powell and Dr. Darden W. Jones. Darden, 83, former Holland mayor and a retired executive of Darden Oil Co., Franklin, died early Tuesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Mildred Cutchin Darden and a son of Mills Thomas and Mrs. Ella Rawls Darden of Nansemond County. He was a member of Holland Christian Church. He was a town councilman 38 years and a charter member of Holland Ruritan Club. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J.A. Nicholas of Franklin; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a nephew.
