All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ADELAIDE PERSON DREWRY Capron sustained the loss of one of its oldest and best-loved residents in the death last Sunday night of Mrs. Adelaide Person Drewry, widow of James Emmett Drewry. Mrs. Drewry was 80 years old, having been born in Greensville County on March 11, 1860, the daughter of the James Henry and Ann Elizabeth Darden Person. In 1883 she married Mr. Drewry and when they moved in 1890 to make their home in Capron they were the second couple to come to the village. Mrs. Drewry was a devoted member of Capron Methodist Church and a charter member of its Woman’s Bible Class and Woman’s Missionary Society. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Beverly Moss and Mrs. L.A. Porter of Norfolk; Mrs. L.P. Jervey of Atlanta, Mrs. J. Winston Fuqua of Surry and Miss Mary Drewry of Capron; one granddaughter, four grandsons, and a brother, Edward R. Person of Dardenelle, Ark. Services were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. C.V. Morris, assisted by the Rev. R.H. Marks of Union Level, a former pastor, and the Rev. A.W. Coates of Drewryville. Mrs. T.C. Lassiter sang "Jesus, Lover of My Soul." Interment was made at Cedar View, ancestral Drewry place near Drewryville, there being a profusion of floral tributes. Honorary pallbearers included friends from Virginia and North Carolina, active bearers being Humphrey Drewry, John Claud, Mason Hodges, Tom Paine Claude, S.E. Pope, James Drewry, L.R. Magee and M.P.
