Drewry, died at her home near Black Creek September 24, 1938, after a short illness, age 77 years. She was the daughter of the late R.G. and Mrs. Mary Lou Edwards, and had been a resident of the Black Creek community all of her life. She was a consistent member of the Black Creek Baptist Church, a lovable Christian woman and a devoted mother, her life being an inspiration to all who knew her. She was gentle, pious and a loyal friend. She is survived by five sons, Richard, Edgar, Irvin, Aurelius and Reginald Drewry of Zuni; two brothers, W.G. Edwards of Suffolk and J.A. Edwards of Zuni; six grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and a wide circle of relative and friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. from Black Creek Baptist Church by her pastor, Rev. W.B. Watson, assisted by the Rev. W.H. Corbitt of Holland Baptist Church and Rev. R.H. Corbitt of Colosse Baptist Church. The choir sang, "Abide with Me," "Have Thine Own Way," a duet, "The Old Rugged Cross," being sung by Mrs. L.E. Beale and Mrs. G.A. West. There was a large attendance and many beautiful floral offerings. The active pallbearers were: H.M. Edwards, Talmage Edwards, A.M. Hann, A.C. Carr, M.H. Lowe, W.E. Drewry, C.W. Bulls, and D.L. Joyner. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Burial was made at her home in the family cemetery. [Martha Lou (EDWARDS; Mrs. J.S.)
